10 Reasons I Love My Costco Membership

It’s no secret, Costco and moms are a match made in heaven.10 Reasons I Love My Costco Membership | Kansas City Moms Blog

Earlier this month, the Costco Mom Hour event opened up 80+ Costco warehouses nationwide an hour early exclusively for City Moms Blog Network readers, brought more than 12,000 moms together to enjoy breakfast, swag and most importantly, a peaceful hour of shopping just for us. In Kansas City, four metro locations welcomed moms who were able to start their holiday shopping early or stock up on diapers and other essentials.

Many of us signed up for new memberships and have returned weekly to our new favorite spot! Read on for the reasons we are loving being a part of the Costco family!

  1. Snack while you shop. Food samples are an obvious perk of a Costco membership. The often-generous samples mean I don’t have to pack snacks for the kids (or me)! Plus, I can discover before I buy something if my toddler will actually eat it … or if he will spit it out into my hand.
  2. Mom-sized shopping carts. Costco is the only store where I can fit my toddler, the infant car seat, my enormous mom purse, and all of my groceries in the same cart!
  3. Never run out of toilet paper! Perhaps you are considering Costco but aren’t sure if you really need to buy items in bulk. Let me assure you that not having to restock your toilet paper every two weeks is well worth the price of membership. Our family also purchases paper towels, diapers, laundry detergent and paper goods at Costco.
  4. Affordable, family-friendly food choices. While it takes a little strategy to buy food items to purchase in bulk, our family has saved both time and money buying a portion of our groceries at Costco each month. In addition to having good prices on brand name items, Costco’s signature brand, Kirkland, offers many great quality options. (In fact, I’m enjoying Kirkland’s organic salsa as I write this post!) If you need to feed your family cheaply and in a pinch, I recommend a rotisserie chicken, the take-and-bake pizzas, a pre-packaged chicken caesar salad, or the $1.50 all-beef hot dog and drink combo. All reliable kid-pleasers in our home!
  5. Shopping doubles as exercise. Need to burn off some extra energy? Take the kids to Costco and round a few laps. Workout for the day = done.
  6. Deals on great brands. Costco runs monthly specials, so you can score great prices on high-quality brands. I particularly love our Dyson cordless vacuum, Nutribullet, and my Matty M leggings. A friend recently found some Hunter boots for half the original price!
  7. Because where else can you buy a 93-inch plush bear? This is really a thing, my friends. Really a thing.
  8. Parties made easy. Have you tried Costco’s sheet cake?! Do yourself a favor and order one for your kid’s next birthday party! You’ll receive rave reviews from party attendees and have plenty of leftovers to eat after bedtime. (Balance it out by purchasing an extra large veggie tray, if you must.)
  9. Gas, travel, and more. Being a Costco member affords you more than grocery shopping benefits. You can save on gas, tires, eyeglasses, rental cars and more.
  10. Dads and kids love Costco, too! My husband isn’t usually a fan of grocery shopping, but he rarely refuses a trip to Costco. (Something about buying the five-pound bag of frozen peas is just more exciting!) My toddler also loves the store, so it’s possible I have occasionally been spotted at 4 p.m., with a mostly empty cart and foggy eyes, wandering around the store eating samples, just surviving until 5 p.m.

Thanks, Costco, for making this mom’s job a little easier!
