Are You Ready for Some Football?

Are You Ready For Some Football? At our house, fall means football. Specifically, college football! My husband hails from Nebraska – and if you know anything about Nebraskans, then you know they LOVE their football team. I grew up in a family where football wasn’t really all that important. Needless to say, over the years of not only dating, but then being married to a sports nut, I have learned a lot – and I have learned to love college football. The crowd, the atmosphere, the food! I would argue that, while all college football atmospheres are unique, they are all equally amazing!

Living in a border town like Kansas City, we have a lot of opportunities to cheer for University of Kansas Athletics. Going to Lawrence is a fantastic experience, but going to Lawrence on GAME DAY? Well … that just can’t be beat!

Football vs. Northern ColoradoTo kick off your game day experience as a family, be sure to check out The Hy-Vee Hawk Zone: inflatable games, live radio broadcasts, tackling station/drills, face painting, a balloon artist, free KU promotional items, fan photo booth and visits from KU student-athletes to sign autographs to name a few. What a great way to let kids burn off some energy before the game begins! The Hy-Vee Hawk Zone opens two and a half hours before kick-off and closes at the end of the first quarter.

KU Kickoff at Corinth SquareIf the little ones in your house bleed blue and crimson, then you’ll definitely want to look into joining the KU Junior Jayhawk Kids Club – the official kids club of Kansas Athletics for all kids ages 13 and under. Membership is only $45/year and includes some amazing member perks like admission to KU athletic events, fun “members only” events, and special KU gear!

If you’ve never been to a college football game, then let me be the first to tell you – it’s a must! Even if you aren’t a huge football fan, the energy and excitement is contagious for young and old alike. To usher in another exciting season of Kansas athletics, Kansas City Moms Blog is giving away a prize package to include the following items:

One (1) single-game family 4-pack of tickets to a KU football game of the winner’s choice

One (1) $50 gift card to Downtown Lawrence

One (1) Junior Jayhawk Kids Club membership

Cali
I'm Cali. I'm a wife, co-parent, and mom of twin boys who are soon-to-be 6, as well as brand new step-mom to 3 young adults who are 19, 16, and 14. I was born and raised in the Northland, and I can't imagine living anywhere else...unless you were to offer me a beach house, or a villa on the coast of Italy or France. I have been a public educator for 21 years, and I currently teach middle school, which I truly believe is the very best age in all the world. I enjoy reading, cooking, and traveling, and I believe ice cream is an acceptable meal any time of the day. I drink entirely too much diet coke, and my floors are rarely clean. I joined the mommy-club later in life after an 8 year struggle with infertility. I've decided being an "old mom" is a pretty great gig.
