Eat Like a Royal: Recipes for your World Series Watch Party

Eat Like a Royal: recipes for your World Series watch partyIt’s happening! The Kansas City Royals are going to the World Series! While many of our friends are pulling out big bucks to attend this (possibly) once-in-a-lifetime event, a lot of us will be cheering from our couches at home; however, just because you don’t have tickets doesn’t mean you can’t join in on the festivities! Why not invite your besties over and throw a World Series watch party? Below are some great recipes to consider for your watch party lineup. Trust me, it will be better than the “All You Can Eat Seats” at Kauffman – and the parking is a lot cheaper, too!

According to Aramark, food and beverage distributor at Kauffman Stadium, their best-selling hot dog at Royals games is the namesake “Kansas City Dog” which is topped with grilled sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Boulevard Pale Ale mustard and served on a sesame seed bun. Try this beer-braised version with sauerkraut, adding a little Swiss cheese and mustard to make you feel like you’re really at the game. Since this is the World Series, don’t settle for just any old hot dog in that bun – kick things up a notch by using one of a number of amazing sausages made by Kansas City butchers like the burnt end BBQ sausage at The Local Pig or the cocktail sausages at Broadway Butcher.

Now, you can’t have a dog without a side. Sports fans will love these healthy crispy oven fries alongside their sausages – and YOU will love how easy they are to make!

Did you know the Kansas City Royals are named after the American Royal? True story. Why not put BBQ on your party menu? Since it’s October (yes, baseball in October – believe it, Kansas City!), consider warming your sports fans up with some BBQ chili! Thanks to Colby and Megan Garrelts, chefs at Rye in Leawood, you and your guests won’t want to miss this crowd-pleasing Rye’s Red Chili featuring Kansas City pulled pork.

Then, you can celebrate the marriage of baseball and autumn even more with this savory take on pumpkin dip from Kansas City food blogger Ali at Gimme Some Oven. Use a few vegetables for your dipping instruments, and you might even have room for dessert.

On the sweet side, caramel corn and Cracker Jacks are iconic baseball food. Whipping up your own is easy with this clean and delicious caramel corn recipe from Lauren’s Latest. Then, make this dessert World Series-worthy by adding smoked nuts for a KC spin on Cracker Jacks. If you sprinkle the mixture over ice cream and close your eyes, you’d almost swear you were enjoying a sundae in a little plastic baseball cap while sitting in the Diamond Club at Kauffman …

… only maybe a little better! 😉
