Did you know that you can go into a paint store and request “Johnson County Beige”? It’s true. In the minds of most people, this suburban Kansas county is colored with a single hue: blah. There’s a perception that the citizens here thrive off of a lack of individuality and an abundance of chain coffee shops – and while that can be the case in some instances, Johnson County is also sprinkled with amazing art, incredible family restaurants, and charming shops.
If you’re not already familiar with it, let me introduce you to one of my favorite excursions for an extra dose of personality – the Junque Drawer Boutique in Olathe. Drive about a mile south of K-10 on Ridgeview Road and you’ll find a long driveway that transports you to a magical house full of novelties, art, jewelry, and much more!
The delightful atmosphere invites you to embrace your experience – but if that isn’t enough for you, you can enjoy homemade cookies and tea (or wine on some nights, if you hit your timing right). While nibbling on your chocolate chips, walk from room to room exploring the abundance of alluring sparklies, cool trinkets, funny knick-knacks, lotions, kitchen gadgets, and hundreds of other items to catch your eye and make you smile. Junque Drawer is the perfect place to find a gift for the hard-to-shop-for person in your life, but I dare you to try to leave without buying something for yourself.
Here’s an idea of just some of the items you’ll see:
Things for your baby or unique baby gift items –
Lotions, scrubs, scents, and other items for pampering –
Home decor –
Scarves, hats, headbands, and purses –
Great gifts for special people (Valentine’s Day is just around the corner!) –
And one of my favorite sections – jewelry!
If you’re into charms, Junque Drawer is a must for you. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of individual charms for your bracelets and chains –
There is plenty more to see, so check it out for yourself! Junque Drawer is open Monday through Saturday, 10 am-6 pm and is located at 11270 S Ridgeview Road. Check them out on Facebook, Instagram, or by visiting their website.
And if you’re curious, you should know that I’m not getting paid for this post – I’m just a big believer in sharing why I love this establishment so that you can enjoy it, too!
