Your KC Summer Guide: Movies Under the Stars

Grab your blankets, lawn chairs and snacks for a relaxing summer night. (For a more extensive list of this summer’s movie offerings, don’t miss our summer movie guide next week! Also, as parents, please utilize one of the many available online resources to help you make informed viewing decisions for your family.)

Popcorn in the Park – Stocksdale Park

Liberty Parks and Recreation will provide popcorn and water. Moviegoers are encouraged to make an evening of it and bring a picnic, lawn chairs and blankets. Alcohol is not allowed in Liberty’s parks.

Featured movie: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (5/26, 8:30 p.m.)

Briarcliff’s Movie Night by the Lake Series

Movies are shown on Saturday nights at 8:45 p.m. at Mulberry Lake across from Briarcliff Village. Bring blankets, lawn chairs and snacks.

Movie selections/dates: TBA

Theatre in the Park – Shawnee Mission Park

Movies are $1 per person. Gates open at 7:30 p.m.; movies start at 8:30 – 8:45 p.m. (depending on sunset).

Movies include: Moana (6/6), Sing (6/20), Pitch Perfect (7/18), Finding Dory (8/1)

M-o-o-vie Night – Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead

Gates open at  7:30 p.m. on June 22; m-o-o-vie begins at dusk. Milk and cookies will be served courtesy of Hiland Dairy Foods.

Sand Cinema Presents … – Longview Lake Beach

Cost is $5 per car. No outside food or drink is allowed, but concessions are available on-site. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. Movies begin around 9 p.m. 

Movies include: The Secret Life of Pets (6/23) and Finding Dory (7/21)

WeekEnder – Crown Center

Food trucks and local bands begin at 6 p.m.; movies begin at approximately 9 p.m. Note: Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase but may not be brought on-site.

Movies include: The Parent Trap – 1998 version (7/7), How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (7/14), Remember the Titans (7/21), Jurassic World (7/28), Back to the Future (8/4)

Dive-In Movie Night – Thomas A Soetaert Aquatic Center

Bring your favorite flotation device, or use one of theirs! All are welcome. Movie begins at dusk.

Featured movie: Moana (7/15)

B&B Twin Drive-In – Independence

Adults are $10, kids 11 and under are free. While you’re there, ask about their Backstage Pass Program, which offers some great perks throughout the year at all B&B Theatres.

Adults are $10, kids 11 and under are free. Cash only.
