One week ago, 30+ KC moms braved the pouring rain to attend a wine tasting event hosted by Hy-Vee. We had a wonderful time sampling wines and listening to one Frenchman and one Romanian explain where each wine came from in the Bordeaux region of France. Marian shared 6 different wines with us that are all available from Terra Firma USA at your local Hy-Vee store. His co-conspirator Pierre is the person who goes to the different vineyards in France and negotiates for the exportation of these delicious wines. If you’ve never been to a wine tasting before, we HIGHLY recommend you sign up for one at your local Hy-Vee. Not all of the area Kansas City Hy-Vee’s offer them due to different state laws but you can always ask your Hy-Vee when/if they do them.
We cannot sing the praises of these guys enough. For many of us, this was our first wine tasting. I think we would all agree that any future wine tasting experience will be compared to this one as Marian and Pierre wowed us with their vast knowledge of wine AND their ability to make a bunch of moms feel beautiful, important and relaxed on an evening out sans kids.
Another fun benefit of the evening was hearing from Rebecca, the Club Manager of the 64th Street Hy-Vee. She shared some great information about how moms can utilize the club room. For more information on this, we suggest you read this post from last week that was very popular with KC moms. Turns out, lots of KC moms are interested in freezer clubs offered at various Hy-Vees across the metro!
Marian and Pierre were so helpful. They helped each of us understand which wines go with certain types of food, and at one point Pierre was given a dollar bill after he lost a bet to one of the moms. Pierre bet one mom $1 that she wouldn’t like the merlot. Pierre and his french accent can be very convincing . . .
Overall, we had a blast sipping on wine, and enjoying the finger food Rebecca and her team made for us. Artisan bread, fruit and cheese trays, delicious desserts and of course . . . GIVEWAWAYS!
That’s right! A KCMB event isn’t complete without some giveaways. The 64th Street Hy-Vee graciously provided Curtis Stone cookware to be given away.
Thank you again to the 64th Street Hy-Vee for hosting us and to Marian and Pierre for entertaining us over the course of the evening. One thing is certain-KC moms had a great time connecting with each other offline and we can’t wait to do it again!
