If you’re like me, you probably try your best to limit screen time but also know sometimes flipping on a show is the easiest way to wind down, distract, or even spend some relaxing family time together on a rainy day. When our kids, however, are young and growing, they’re constantly taking in everything happening around them.
Below is a list some great educational Netflix picks to check out next time you’re looking for some guilt-free, educational shows to turn on.
1. Little Einsteins
The Little Einsteins are made up of Leo, Annie, Quincy and June. Every episode contains a mission the Little Einsteins must complete using classical music, musical terms, art, nature and culture to reason and figure out how to reach their goal. It’s probably my all-time personal favorite for little kids.
2. Super Why!
The Super Why team goes on adventures solving problems using logic, literature, words and fun. It helps kids logically put together problem solving and step-by-step solutions.
3. Justin Time GO
Traveling through history and the world, Justin’s imagine takes him to some awesome and educational locations to learn life lessons.
4. The Magic School Bus
I think a lot of parents can remember the Magic School Bus from their own childhood. I know it was one of my favorites. This show follows the upbeat, fun, wild Ms. Frizzle on educational yet adventurous trips. Kids can head to a new place, inside a body, outer space and more with this show.
Clifford is another show (or at least book) a lot of parents can remember. It’s now also a great educational pick on Netflix. If you’re looking for a kids’ show with good morals and great guidance on handling situations in a kind and fair manner, this is your show.
6. Special Agent Oso
A teddy bear named Oso asks for help from your kids to complete everyday tasks that are important to learn. These are Oso’s missions and they help teach your little ones to do things like mail a letter or help around the house.
7. Leap Frog
Leap Frog is a fun, musical sing-a-long that helps teach children about letters and math. It’s upbeat and the songs are a great way to help kids remember what they’re learning.
8. Sid The Science Kid
Sid is all about teaching kids about science, as he is really into science himself. The shows touches on all kinds of science-related subjects from solar systems to weather to composting and more.
9. Ask The StoryBots
StoryBots are based off award-winning educational apps and live inside computers. They answer kids’ questions by going on adventures to figure out just what so many kids are wondering, learning about, and want to understand.
10. Cirque du Soleil: Luna Petunia
Luna Petunia is a new Netflix series that’s inspired for the creatives. This show taps into the curiosity, imagination and play-based learning for your preschoolers.
11. Word Party
This show is great for the littler toddlers. It teaches them vocabulary using fun and upbeat singing, dancing and playing with cute animals.
12. Julie’s Greenroom
If you’re wanting to educate your kids on performing arts or get them involved and learning from a young age, Julie’s Greenroom is a great Netflix go-to to check out.
13. Bill Nye The Science Guy
I don’t know about you, but I always get real excited when they rolled in the TV in my younger school years. It meant Bill Nye was coming on (and we didn’t have to do school work). This throwback is an oldie but a goodie, and it’s very educational and science-focused in a fun way.
