Winter and summer and on the days in between, there are just times that the weather gets in the way of sending your kids outside to play. And when the kids are cooped up, you know it’s going to be a rough day for everyone! Check out this comprehensive list of churches, businesses, gyms, and community centers that offer indoor play time for kids to run, jump, and burn off energy. Note some are closed or have different hours/rates during school breaks, so always call before you go. A handful of these places are even free!

  • Local Businesses:
    • Cosmic Jump (Olathe). This trampoline park has evening hours on weekdays during the school year (4-8 p.m.) but is open during the day on the weekends. On school breaks and holidays they are often open at 10 a.m. Main trampolines are for kids 8 and up, but there is a separate area for younger kids.
    • Little Monkey Bizness (Shawnee). Opens at 9 a.m., 7 days a week. Admission is free for parents and infants, $9 for walkers and $5 for crawlers. Power Hour on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m., admission only $6. Kids AND parents are required to wear socks. Sign up for their free rewards program to earn free visits.
    • Pump it Up (Shawnee Mission). Open jump is available Tuesday and Friday mornings from 10 to 11:30 a.m. $1 off admission when you bring a can to donate to Harvesters.

I am not sure the integrity gymnastics open gym is accurate. The link is not the local club. May want to double check

What does open gym mean? Is that a no charge, show up and have fun time?

Great question, Carrie! “Open gym” or “open play” generally indicates non-structured play time. We have noted free opportunities where available, though, so keep an eye out for those throughout this guide!
