KC Summer Guide: Theaters and Shows

From puppet shows to musicals to kid friendly Broadway shows, Kansas City has so many options for families!

Music at the Farmstead

Stay late (6:30-7:15 p.m.) at Deanna Rose Farmstead and enjoy live music and dancing from some of the best KC children’s entertainers! Cost is regular admissions (members are free!). 

Featured entertainers: Funky Mama (6/7), Percussions Magic (7/5) and Jim Cosgrove – Mr. Stinky Feet (8/2)

Goosebumps: Phantom of the Auditorium, The Musical

June 19-August 5 at the Coterie at Crown Center.

 

Peter Pan at Theatre for Young America

June 19-July 7 at the H&R Block Stage at Union Station.

Go, Dog. Go! by Mesner Puppet Theater

June 26-July 8, Musical Theater Heritage at Crown Center, 3rd floor

Starlight Theatre

Tickets can be found for less than $20; general parking is $7 if purchased in advance.

Our favorite kid pick this summer season: Cinderella (6/29-7/1)

Theatre in the Park – Johnson County

Bring your blankets or lawn chairs (designated sections) to Shawnee Mission Park; outside food is permitted. Tickets are $8, $6 for kids 4-10; ages 3 and under free. Performances begin at 8:30 p.m. Twenty percent off tickets are available on Thrifty Thursdays. 

Our favorite kid-friendly shows: The Little Mermaid (6/8-6/19) and High School Musical (8/3-8/11)

Theatre in the Park – Gladstone

Bring your blankets or lawn chairs (designated sections) for the 30th year of Theatre in the Park. Shows begin at 8:30 p.m.

Featured performances: Oklahoma! (7/6-7/8) and  Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (8/3-8/5)
