If you are like me and enjoy checking out new kid friendly play spaces in Kansas City, then you should put Urban Air in Overland Park on your list! Urban Air opened at the end of the summer and offers a ton of fun activities for kids from toddlers to teens.110

Indoor Playground
It is hard to describe this, you really need to see it to take in how HUGE it is (and how fun!). It is three stories tall with slides, climbing structures, tunnels, obstacle courses, a ball pit, and smaller toys and climbing structures for the under 2 crowd. My daughter had a blast exploring this playground, and I was very happy that it’s big enough for an adult to climb up inside if your kid happens to get to the top level and freak out. Not saying that happened to us or anything…

Trampolines
Urban Air has plenty of trampolines to go around, and they are for more than just jumping. There are dodgeball courts where you can compete in Wednesday night tournaments, a slam dunk track, a runway for gymnasts and tumblers to practice stunts, and my personal favorite: “the dropzone.”

Warrior Obstacle Course215
If your kids are obsessed with the show American Ninja Warrior like my nieces and nephews are, they will lose their collective minds if you bring them here. The course is designed to test their speed, agility, strength, and stamina. What a unique way for kids to get exercise and push themselves to try something new!

JumpeROO
On Tuesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m. – noon, kids 5 and under can jump on the trampoline attractions and play on the indoor playground. Parents jump free! If you have preschoolers this is probably the best bang for your buck. I’ve organized outings here with my moms group a couple of times and it is so much fun!

Other events:

  • Air456: This event is two Fridays a month for kids in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade (9-12 years olds). Event includes access to all attractions, plus pizza, a dodgeball tournament, and a DJ.
  • Teen Night: This happens two Saturdays a month for kids 13 and older. Event includes access to all attractions, plus pizza, a dodgeball tournament, and a DJ.
  • Birthday Parties: Urban Air offers several birthday packages that can be customized to include your kid’s favorite attractions. We are considering having my daughter’s birthday here next summer as outdoor parties in July have proved miserable in the past!

Pricing and hours can be found here. Make sure to check out the promotional pricing deal on Tuesdays/Thursdays as well as their current coupons! Follow their Facebook page for additional specials as well as information on early release days when they have special hours.

Julia Willhite
I'm Julia and I live in Olathe with my husband of 16 years, my 10 and 6 year old daughters, and our rescue pug Mabel. I’m a social worker turned SAHM and love Dr. Pepper, thunderstorms, and talking to other adults. I hate coffee, diet culture, and washing dishes. I'll talk your ear off about the best local parks and which restaurants have wronged me by changing their long-standing menu items. I try to walk the line between knowing a lot of stuff and not being a know-it-all. Some days I'm better than others.
