Spring Break in Kansas City: Things to See and Do | Kansas City Moms BlogSpring has arrived early in Kansas City, just in time for spring break fun in our own backyard. Here are some of our favorite destinations to help keep you and the kiddos busy in the weeks ahead:

Crown Center.
Whether a quick stop with the littles or a full day with the entire family, there is so much to see and do at Crown Center! Consider a visit to one or more of these family-friendly destinations:

Indoor water parks.
OK, it’s nice – but not quite outdoor water park nice (yet!). If water is your family’s thing, give these great indoor water parks a try.

Johnson County Museum/KidScape.
In this FREE exhibit housed at the Johnson County Museum, kids ages 3-9 can learn about the community around them through colorful, hands-on role playing.

Kansas City Zoo.
In addition to their regular daily offerings, the Zoo offers a number of day- and week-long camps for kids. Contact the zoo today to learn what’s available during your spring break (or, plan ahead for summer!) as advance registration is typically required.

The Money Museum.
This FREE, walk-in museum includes numerous interactive exhibits and the opportunity to design your own digital currency (complete with your photo!).  

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
The Nelson-Atkins has a great deal to offer families all year long. Start your visit indoors, then head outside for a picnic and a tour of the kid-favorite Sculpture Park.

Outdoor destinations.
For kids who have been cooped up indoors for much of the winter, a trip to a local nature center or outdoor museum could be just what the doctor ordered. Consider a visit to one or more of these great local offerings:

Science City.
This hands-on science center will help quench the appetites of the youngest scientists in your home.

Theatre for Young America.
TYA is a non-profit children’s theatre currently offering a production of Junie B. Jones, the Musical (through March 19) on the H&R Block City Stage at Union Station. Your kids will love the show while you support a great cause.

Wonderscope Children’s Museum of Kansas City.
Wonderscope’s mission is “sparking a lifelong love of learning through the power of play.” There is much to explore within the walls of this museum! Look for extended spring break hours every Monday in March, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
