Water Is Year-Round. Swim Lessons Should Be, Too.

year round swim lessonsWhen the Autumn temperatures drop, the leaves begin to fall and the sunlight hours dwindle, you can be sure that your choices for physical activity do as well.  Many families choose this season to re-prioritize the necessity of swim safety, treating swimming as a summer-only activity. However, swimming year-round is one of the best activities available during the fall and winter seasons! After all, safety isn’t seasonal, and water is ever-present!

Burn Away That Cabin Fever!

As the weather gets colder and outside activities become fewer, little ones are itching for some activity.  Year-round swim lessons are an excellent outlet for their pent-up wiggles in a fun, safe and instructional environment! After all, nothing says, “Come on, Summer!” like a 90-degree pool of splash-worthy enjoyment.

It Does A Body Good!

Swimming is one of the top activities for improving and maintaining physical health.  It’s great for increased flexibility, aerobic endurance and muscle tone, with significantly less risk of injury or deterioration of the joints. While swimming is an effective exercise for any child, it can be particularly helpful for those with asthma – especially when done indoors. The warm, moist air that the swimmer is breathing is unlikely to trigger their asthma.  The breathing techniques used in swimming also lead to increased lung volume. Not to mention what swimming does for their minds.

Consistency Is Key!

Consistent year-round swim lessons are the best way to ensure your child’s safety around water in-season and out-of-season, and routine participation in formal swim lessons reduces the risk of drowning by 88% among children ages 1-4 years old, according to Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 2009.

As much as we like to think that children will just “pick back up where they left off” in regards to swim lessons, that simply isn’t the case.  Swimming isn’t like riding a bike, and regression of skills can happen quickly. After investing valuable time and money into developing life-saving swimming skills, it’s important to encourage children to swim until mastery, completing all the levels available to them.  We desire that your child will be a strong swimming ADULT, which requires us to raise strong swimming CHILDREN!

Contact your local Aqua-Tots Swim School today to enroll your child in year-round lessons! Mention KCMB when registering before 10/31 and we will waive the Annual Registration Fee (up to $40 value).
